Folk craft like Tesu and Jhanjhi has decreased in production with time. Tesu and Jhanjhi-Is a ritual of celebrating the marriage of Tesu and Jhanjhi practiced and performed by children before Diwali in north India, including areas of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. It has a handcrafted object, one called Tesu and another Jhanjhi. The “potter” community makes it with earthen clay, bamboo sticks, and natural colors. Tesu looks like a body with black eyes, a mustache, headgear like a king, and a hookah in one hand supported by three bamboo sticks and painted with natural vibrant colors. Jhanjhi is like a pot with holes, ‘Diya’ is put inside it, as well as decorated with paper and colors. The most important part of this craft or object is the folk song sung by children and the rituals performed. Children sing folk songs and go around the village with these clay objects to get donations. In return, they get some money or sometimes food or grains. These are used for performing the marriage ceremony of “Tesu” and “Jhanjhi.” This whole process of rituals, and songs, done by children along with the making of colorful Tesu and Jhanjhi as it, creates value in this craft. With time these rituals and folk songs are not been performed, resulting in fewer sales of them.

दखो रे लोगो वो हो गई दिवानी।

सेलखड़ी भई सेलखड़ी
नौ सौ डिब्बा रेल खड़ी
एक डिब्बा आरम्पार
उसमें बैठे मियांसाब
मियां साब की काली टोपी
काले हैं कलयान जी
गौरे हैं गुरयान जी
कूद पड़े हनुमान जी
लंका जीते राम जी।
